It’s still a bit of a work in progress. There’s a lot of meta-information I still need to add, and the music section will eventually get a nice tag browser to make it easier to filter through my, uh, 25 years of releases to find what you’re looking for, but adding in the data that’s necessary for that to happen will take some time.

I also hope to eventually make it so that you can get nice printable liner notes from all of my album pages, but that will also take a bit of doing!

There’s also obviously a bit of design work that needs to be done, especially around tags and the buy/listen box for things. I definitely have plans! But for now I’m just trying to get this site functional enough, and I think it’s at that point.

I also have a lot of plans for this blog in particular: I want to have articles on music making, stuff about the music industry (and trying to survive as an independent musician in general), and also an ongoing diary of the music I’m listening to or inspired by! I might also post occasional things like deeper meanings behind songs, and random work-in-progress things or other little experiments.

This blog will definitely be more focused on my music, though; for other stuff, I have a whole other website.

I’m still trying to decide whether I want a comment system, and what form it’ll take. Sometimes I feel like simple is better, and in the meantime there are plenty of other ways for people to get in touch with me.

These are some of my oldest songs, all but one of them written back when I first started writing songs with lyrics. They have been completely reimagined and rearranged as a celebration of where I started and of how far I’ve come.

These songs serve as a sort of soundtrack to my life, especially in those days of the early 2000s, when I was struggling with gender and my mental health, and trying to figure out what I even wanted to be when I grew up (in more ways than one). They’ve been sitting on a shelf, fermenting for decades, and they are songs that I am finally ready to share with the world.

They tell a story of aspiration and heartbreak, of being trapped by my circumstances and escaping, and ultimately finding my own path forward.

These songs are super personal and personally-meaningful, and I am glad that they are finally out there in the world.

These are some of my oldest songs, all but one of them written back when I first started writing songs with lyrics. They have been slightly polished and cleaned up and remastered, but are otherwise as they were originally released.

Some of these are outtakes from aborted album projects. I still had a ways to go before I was ready to release these songs properly. Sometimes things take a while to ferment.

This is basically a companion album to Transitions, in which most of these songs were finally redone for modern ears, in a way I’m finally happy with. The artwork, on the other hand, is a reference to my very first album.

I volunteer for Trans Academy as the lead composer and as an assistant video editor. Here is some of the music I composed for the YouTube channel.

In addition to composing the main thematic elements and producing all of the above audio tracks, as lead composer I direct a team of musicians to maintain consistency around our musical branding and also provide guidance and education to raise our musical standards overall. I also work closely with the video editors to ensure the quality of the overall audio mix.

I also frequently perform at Trans Academy events with the goal of encouraging more people (especially members of the trans community) to start producing and performing music, and I love the connections I’ve made as a result, particularly the members of my team who have come on board as a result.

About Trans Academy

Trans Academy is a 501(c⁠)(3) non-profit organization committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and educational virtual environment that empowers the transgender community and their allies. They provide peer support, voice lessons, vocational skill training and networking, resources to navigate gender identity, and opportunities for meaningful connections. In doing so they create a supportive space where members can engage in empowering conversations, access valuable resources, and celebrate the diversity of gender identities.

For quite a while I had been working on an album called Transitions, in which I was rerecording some of my oldest Song Fight! songs now that I sorta know what I’m doing. While doing this I decided to also do a second companion album, Deadnames, in which I would provide remastered versions of the original recordings.

I came to realize that a bunch of the songs that I was planning wouldn’t really fit Transitions, and that their original recordings didn’t really fit with Deadnames either — but those songs were still overdue to be released, and gosh darnit, I’d already gone through the effort to remaster them! One song in particular really wanted to be released in its original version as a single, and I came to realize that all six of those misfit songs could instead go on their own little EP. So I gave them a bit more love than a simple remaster.

The result: Here’s Notions, an EP in which one particularly silly song is joined by five other particularly silly songs. I hope you enjoy it.
